Blog #3: Personal Statement

Why do they called us immigrants? Just because we dont have a green card, a permision by the law to be here in the U.S. A simple piece of paper that the goverment just will not give to those who are working their land. They prohibit us from having the right of trying to make our lifes better. To see where we can be able to go if we dedicate ourselves to it.
I am proud to say that I am a Latina Women who has seen and experince some of this cruelty done by the "Americans" owners of the U.S land. People who do not realize that even them are immigrants since their ancestors came from all over the world when Cristopher Columbus discover the Americas. Yeah like i said "Americas" it was not called the United States at first, because they had discover a whole new continent that has a South, North, and Central. Which means that we are all part of one place, that we are all related and should not be rejecting our own Race the Human Race.
They blame us for taking their jobs, but all we are doing as a society is to do those jobs that others will not be willind do for a low payment and long, hard working hours. We have asked too many times to Congess the head of the goverment to give us their permision a chance to be here but they always reject us. And now they have prohibit us from many of our human rights. Just think about how many families have been destroy. How many children will have to grow up with complete strangers becuase they were the only lucky ones to had born in U.S terretory and not been sent back to where theire parents came from. How many dreams have they broke, tears spilled all over.
It is not only the Hispanic / Latino Communities in danger but also Asians, Africans, Indonesians, Europeans, etc. All comming to look for the American Dream for some that consisted in freedom, a better life, a better education, a better economic display. We are all diffrent colors with diffrent cultures, languages, traditions, costums, but we are still one and only HUMAN BEING RACE....
I understand that some may not agree, not all of us think the same way, we are all diffrent, but the color of our skin shou not make a difference. I get that some may not be doing all good, Gangs, Violence, Robery, Poverty is all over the place no matter how hard we try or whom we blame for it. Its always going to be there because we have not understand what is it that makes a good society. Lets take a step back and think about what we can do for everyone not only for ourselves but to prevent this kinds of issues that have a global impact weather or not we see it. Becuase all this will help us become more open mind, a better person inside and out. And someday to have the Eutopia we all have dream about.

First week as a college Student

Out of many applicants to this programs only forty-five of us made it. Our first challenge was to learn how to start living with strangers, most of them that we had never seen. But this week we completed our first real college life, as we started classes. We had to wake up right in the morning to take a shower, get ready, breakfast, and check that we had all of our assignments completed on time.
Pressures was on, and as the week kept on going most of us discover our weakness as students. The most frequent one is time management, since as high school students we had all of our assignments completed on time management, since as high school students we tent to waste time in nonesense things but now we got to learn how to be college people.Learning managing time, where to get help, applying foe scholarships, and getting to know what exactly comities look for in scholarship applications are some lectures that we had on College 101 taught by Maria Garza and Elizabeth Blanco.
From the firstday of class Mrs. Fountain my ENGL 1200 she assign us to read "Dreams from my Father" an aoutbiographical book wrote by Barack Obama. We have to read daily and in class we discuss what we read and how he implies all those techniques that are useful for writing our own autobiography. Which will be the last final assignment; which it is been broken onto four Narrative Essays. Every Monday we have to turn in a rough draft and on Fridays a final draft with the discussions on class, the professor makes us think outside of the box and ask ourselves questions of why we do or think things the way we do them. First week was challenging now i have to keep working hard to overcome all the other four weeks left.

Every so often we are afraid of opening a new chapter our lives so we tempt to back off to that little bubble / comfort zone. It is a few of us that take a risk and discover how many amazing things you can learn and there is been offer, you just got to learn to take advantage of them. To me it seems okay having to learn how to live with so many strangers. Although I knew that it was only to be for a week. The moment I knew I was left by myself in that entrance of residence, chills run all over my body. The kind of chills that we get that first day of school on a whole new environment.

It was weird how as soon as my mother had left from the residence, a girl whom I had never seen before came up to me. With such a warm and comfort smile that made me feel welcome. As we introduce our self we started to know each other, yeah!!!! I had made a new friend. On our way to the Camp Carol Joy Holing we found out that she ended up knowing two of my best friends from a long time. At first the ride to the camp the bus was a little bit silence a few conversations here and there from people that were just meeting.

Super fly!!!! The group name that RTAs’ had chosen for the Co-Operative Team Building activity at the camp. Luckily the group I was with was the only one that had the chance to start from the first level of the challenge. The first instructor made thinks come so easy and fun; he did some activities with us so we could learn each other names. So as we progress he gave us activities that made us start working as a team and gain to trust our team mates. Later on they took us on some high rope activities to work individually and see that we can’t always do everything by ourselves. As the day ended up we came back at Scott Residence Hall, where most of us headed right away to our dorms to take a shower. And relax because next morning we had to be up really early… And Super fly was heading to the most amazing experience that we had. The high rope challenge, where we had to work as a team and not let anybody get behind. After a few hours we congratulate each other high up in the sky for the hard work we had done as a team. So finally two by two we slide on the sip line that took out a scream of relief for all those fears we had.
